Adamawa PDP Omits Atiku’s Name From Special Convention Delegates List

Atiku AbubakarFormer Vice-President and Presidential candidate in the 2007 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar may have been excluded from voting in the forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention as his name is missing from the list of Adamawa State delegates submitted to the party headquarters.

The party has tentatively fixed August 20 for the special mini convention.

According to a report by PUNCH, the list signed by the party’s factional chairman in the state, Mr. Joel Madaki, who is a well known ally of the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, has the name of Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State even though he does not belong to the Madaki faction.

It would be recalled that former Information Minister and Chairman PDP Convention Planning Committee, Prof. Jerry Gana, had said only those that voted at the 2012 convention, where the members of the party’s recently dissolved National Working Committee were elected, would vote at the mini convention.

Curiously, the former VP was a delegate to the March 20, 2012 national convention of the party in Abuja.

Another name conspicuously missing from the Madaki list is that of Kaugama Mijijinwa, who signed the delegates’ list then as Adamawa state chairman of the party.

The report of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had faulted the emergence of some of the party officials at the convention which forced 20 of them to throw in the towel last month.
