Workers Caught Unawares As Gov. Dakingari Pays Unscheduled Visit To Secretariat

saidu_usman_dakingariGov. Sa’idu Dakingari of Kebbi has on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to the state secretariat and expressed dismay at the level of absenteeism of workers from their places of work.

Dakingari, who embarked on the unscheduled visit at about 11:30 am, met with some pensioners awaiting payment of their entitlements.

He visited the ministries of finance and education, the sub-treasury as well as agencies and departments at the Halliru Abdu Secretariat.

Dakingari also inspected the on-going biometrics capturing of 2,900 pensioners for effective payment of their entitlements.

The governor expressed disappointment at the absence of workers, especially the middle and low cadres who were not on their seats but who expected to be paid at the end of the month..

Dakingari said that measures to reverse the trend would soon be adopted.

Some workers said they had not witnessed such a visit by a governor in a long time, and prayed that their salaries would be paid.

A worker, who did not want to be named, said the governor was visibly angry during the visit..

Another worker, who also wanted to remain anonymous, said the visit was appropriate as workers would now try not to absent themselves from work. (NAN).
