Odemwingie Would Like to Play For Eagles Again If Invited.

West Bromwich Albion wantaway forward Peter Osaze Odemwingie was with John Hartson and Kelvin Kilbane on BBC 3 while the Super Eagles played minnows Tahiti at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

It was Odemwingie’s second appearance as a studio guest on BBC in as many months after the Champions League final, which got me wondering if he could use a media job at this point of his career.

As a professional, his contributions were well constructed, even as he discussed the team he regularly featured for few years back. He was also quoted to have said he would want to play for the Eagles again and, I hope that strikes a chord.

“I would like to play international football again of course, if my country calls on me I will go and help them, I can never say no to my country.”

The former Lille Metropole and Lokomotiv Moscow striker has been a transfer target for newly-promoted Hull and Cardiff City. While discussing his future, the 31-year-old forward remained uncertain of his destination; which could be attributed to a recent publication by the Sun that his move to Swansea- the striker’s preferred destination- has been truncated.

“Where you might see me I don’t know, but it looks more like I might leave West Brom, my representatives are in talks with West Brom and most important is I find a manager who will give me playing time, any club that will offer me playing time is what I am looking for,” Odemwingie told BBC 3’s Hartson and Kilbane.

Swansea were said to be unwilling to consider the Nigerian international because of his clouded reputation. It is now believed that the Albion striker could be heading to London as a replacement for Crsytal Palace’s departed winger Wilfried Zaha.

“I have regrets of what happened there because I have a lot of respect for West Brom, I will always have them in my heart. I thought the situation would be done a lot easier than the way they did it. I was not playing in the position that I wanted to and an opportunity came up to play in my favourite position again,” Peter added.”

The former Bendel Insurance forward has 55 international caps and scored 9 goals for the Super Eagles. He was a member of the Beijing Olympic silver medal winning team in 2008.
