Denise Keesee, a 38-year-old math and special education teacher at a High School in Oregon, has been charged with six counts of second-degree sex abuse for inappropriate relationships with multiple students allegedly dating back to 2006.

Police allege that Keesee had sex with the boys at separate times during school hours. Some of the alleged encounters took place at school, and others occurred at the teacher’s home and at the boys’ homes. According to Detective Robert Rookhuyzen of the Washington County sheriff’s office, none of the victims came forward willingly.

“Some of the students she worked with were in a program for at-risk youth,” Rookhuyzen told KGW. “These were young people who had come from broken homes, not doing well in school. And she was able to become buddies with them.”

Police think that more victims are out there, and postulate that the fact that Keesee was married to the school’s police liaison officer may have had a chilling effect on the boys coming forward.

Keesee’s husband, Adam, who is employed by the Sherwood Police Department, has not been charged with any wrongdoing and has since been reassigned, according to Fox affiliate KPTV.

Washington County sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. David Thompson told The Oregonian that his office handled the investigation in order to avoid any appearance of impropriety.

Authorities began investigating Keesee in October 2012 after learning of her alleged inappropriate relationship with one male student. She was placed on administrative leave once the school district learned of the investigation, and she ultimately resigned.
