Maku Donates N2m To Wives Of Slain Police Officers In Nasarawa

Labaran-MakuMinister of Information Labaran Maku on Saturday donated N2 million to widows of slain police officers at Alakyo village in Lafia Local government Area of Nasarawa State.

Maku, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Mary Maku, gave the token to the widows at the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters in Lafia.

The minister urged the widows to take solace that God would not forsake them at all times.

He urged them to adjust to their new status, remain steadfast and prayerful to God for his guidance, protection and comfort.

Maku said that he would find time to meet with them at regular intervals, urging them to take proper care of their children.

Mary, who presented the money to the widows, urged them not to relent in praying to God and be focused as the new heads of their families.

She appealed to the widows not to be disillusioned by the circumstances surrounding them, but to be strong for the sake of their children.

Earlier, the Police Commissioner, Mr Umar Shehu, thanked the minister for the gesture.

Shehu said that the demise of officers had created a vacuum in the command and noted that the slain officers would be missed.

He appealed to Nigerians not to forget the families of the officers, noting that their families would depend on the prayers and support of Nigerians to overcome their trauma.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the widows, their representatives, senior officers and the commissioner gathered at the command to receive the minister.
