Emergency Rule: Yobe Relaxes Curfew In State Capital

Gaidam_yobe_0Following the gradual return of peace to Yobe, the state government on Thursday reviewed the curfew hours in the state.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Geidam on media and information, Abdullahi Bego, the restriction of movement now starts from 9:00pm to 6:00am daily while in other parts of the state the curfew remains from 6pm to 6am daily.

According to the statement, “reviewing the restriction of movement across the state is sequel to a meeting between the state governor, the commander of the Military Joint Task Force (JTF) and other heads of security agents in the state.

“Restriction of movement now starts from 9:00Pm to AM daily from today Thursday 13th June 2013 within the state capital, Damaturu. Restriction of movement in all other parts of the state still remains from 6:00PM to 6: AM daily” the statement reads.

It urged the public to comply with the curfew hours and to maintain their support and cooperation with security agents in the quest for lasting peace in the state.

Residents were also enjoined to continue their supplications for the sustenance of peace in the state and the country as a whole.
