Benue, Nassarawa State Plan Joint Security Surveillance Of Boundary Communities

nigerian_MapGov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue state said Saturday  that the state government was collaborating with its Nassarawa State counterpart on ways of conducting security surveillance along their boundaries.

Suswam made the statement when he briefed newsmen in Makurdi, explaining that the measure was aimed at checking insecurity at the boundaries and the destruction of lives and property in the areas.

The governor said the two governments were adopting strategies to ensure that clashes along their boundaries were eliminated.

He said it was regrettable that in spite of the huge resources invested by the state governments to tackle security challenges in the communities, the Fulani and Tiv crises had defied solutions.

The governor warned that his administration would take extreme measures to stop the incessant attacks on Benue communities.

Suswam said that children and women had been victims of the attacks and as such the government would have no choice than to take extreme measures to deal with the situation. (NAN)
