The Problems of having Similar Crushes

It has been seen that most women start liking the same guy over time. It has also been seen that women end up getting a crush on a friend’s man, and may even flirt with him when his girlfriend’s not around. And this may all have started with human evolution.

Having a similar crush, which is also known as Mate Copying Tendencies in the world of science, may help a girl choose the best partners as we’ve seen in the introductory post. But at the same time, it comes with its share of problems. If one girl likes a guy who’s pretty much a prick, all girls start liking pricks! (Really, this is just a reference to the whole of men here, no specific regions in mind.)

Birds and fishes may have a small brain and not have too many problems finding another bird-brain or fish-brain that looks similar to the one that’s just been jumped by her pal, but in women, getting another splitting image of everyone’s favorite poster boy is rather difficult. So another twist takes place in humans. And we call this human evolution.

All the women start liking the same guy! Be it at work or at college, women wave a sweet ‘Hi’ to the guy and get into a catfight with another girl who’s making a move on the same guy, once he’s out of sight. Things can get pretty complicated and messy here.

Friendships are broken and a national emergency could be declared. Right there, in that office space or in the class corridor, one of the biggest battles could be fought. A lot of things could happen, and a lot will. Maybe I drifted a wee bit too far, but hey, we love expressing emotions, don’t we?

Boyfriends and Mate Copying Choices

There we are, ladies, back on battle ground. Sometimes, as we’ve seen in life, there will be exceptions. One of the lovely ladies may secretly fall in love with her Prince Charming. Eventually this lovely maiden has to reveal her newly hooked love to her friends. Now if you’re the lady who is in love, you could experience two things.

Scenario One: They Hate your Guy

Surprisingly, there will be times when the mate copying choice reverses. This can happen in two cases. One, if your boyfriend looks ugly. Two, if you found him hot the night when you met him at the bar in the middle of your tequila shooter competition, but now you’re really not sure anymore. Things can get quite nasty if they don’t like your guy. They may pass snide comments at him, or they might even be rude to him. It doesn’t matter what they think anyways, you can still have your great private times and just ignore your women friends. You could always tell them about the big diamond studded ring he gave you for going out with him.

Scenario Two: They Love your Guy

This is another example of the mate copying choices. Obviously, you weren’t drunk when you hooked up with this hot dude at the club last night. And so obviously, your friends think he’s gorgeous. It could be because he really is gorgeous, or it could be because you found him gorgeous that they now find him gorgeous, but that’s not of much relevance here. It’s the scenario that we’re concerned about. In this case, the women will turn on their flirtatious charm and try seducing your man each time you go to the little ladies room… alone!

You wonder why no one wanted to share the toilet with you, but it’s okay. You know you can find the toilet yourself, you are hurt though. But when you come back, you find your boyfriend teaching your gal pals to play pool. You could be pissed off here, or you could just pull him by your side. But either ways, he’s still your catch, so it’s all dandy. They will love him, maybe even as much as you love him. And they would want him to hang out with them all the time. So you’ve still got your girlfriends with you, and they love you and your man. So as long as you’ve still got him around you, everything can be just fine.

Now you definitely know why you and your friends fall for the same guy, at least most of the times. It’s all because someone up there decided to make a few men feel better about themselves, and a few men feel worse.

And I hope you also know that when it comes to women, beauty no longer lies in the eyes of the beholder, but definitely, in the eyes of your friends.
