Suarez Can’t ‘Say No’ to a Move to Madrid, But Liverpool Insists NO!

Liverpool FC has ruled out any speculation linking their controversial forward Luis Suarez with a move to Spanish giant Real Madrid.

Suarez was reported to have said it would be “difficult to say no’ to a move to Madrid on Wednesday.

As reported by Sky Sports, the forward, in an interview with Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 claimed he is ‘tired’ with criticism from the English media.

“I am happy at Liverpool, I’m happy because of the fans. I made a mistake, I’m human, but they’ve talked about me in ways they (presumably the English media) shouldn’t have,” said Suarez.

Suarez’s ten- match suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic came 16 months after his eight- game ban for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra. As a result, the Uruguayan will be unavailable for the first six games of next season.

In the interview, Suarez sounded much like weighing up a move to Madrid, who has already made their interest in the forward known.

He said: “I’ve talked to my agent, there’s nothing concrete. To say no to Madrid would always be difficult and more so with the team they have.

“I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid. There are lot of rumours in the transfer period, but you never know until firm offers are made.

“I’ve talked to the coach (Brendan Rodgers), and he knows what I want. He was a player. Some of the players understand my situation- enough said.”

As much as the Anfield club are adamant to let the Uruguayan leave for Spain, the deciding factor for the player may be his presumed unfair treatment by the press.

The player claims his family has been under pressure from fans, after the Ivanovic biting incidence and wouldn’t be ready for more humiliation as he had had enough, getting to his present position.

“My family have suffered and things got out of hand. My daughter and my wife have suffered. I’m not prepared to continue to put up with the English press.

“I love Liverpool, but if there is a chance of playing somewhere else… I suffered too much as a kid to get where I am to be attacked unfairly by the English press. They haven’t appreciated me as a player, they’ve just judged my attitude.”

But Liverpool, the club who signed Suarez for £22.8 million from Ajax in January 2011 insists their striker is not available for sale, for now.

A club spokesman on Friday said: “Luis Suarez is not for sale. Neither Luis or his representatives have communicated these feelings directly to Liverpool.

“The club remains supportive of Luis and expect him to honour his contract. The club will not be making any further comment at this stage.”

Suarez scored 30 goals last season before missing the final two games of the campaign, as a result of his biting Ivanovic.
