Rafael Benitez claimed the April’s Manager of the Months hours after Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson said the Spaniard only came to Chelsea to compile his CV.
Benitez’s team has gone four matches unbeaten and they have also made it into the finals of the Europa Cup. Benitez have endured a tirade of criticism at the West London club but still managed to instill a winning culture in the present Chelsea side.
The last time Benitez clinched a Manager of the Month trophy was in 2009. The last Chelsea manager to win the April Manager of the Month was Carlo Ancelotti, Aprill 2011 just before he was sacked by the club.
Earlier on Friday Ferguson said, “To be fair to him, he has done a good job in the last few weeks, but he is concerned about his CV. He does refer to it a lot.”
