Enugu Rangers defeated CS Sfaxien 1-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup match played at the Nnamdi Azikwe stadium in Enugu. Defender Ugonna Uzochukwu scored the match winner and then saw red at the dying minutes of the match.

Uzochukwu grabbed the winner in the 87th minute, but got his matching orders some minutes later for a second bookable offense, meaning he will not be available for the trip to Tunisia for the return leg.

The duo of Sunday Mba and Chigozie Agbim were unavailable for the tie as they were on international duties with the Super Eagles in Germany, while first- choice goalkeeper Godwin Ayalogu wasn’t fit enough, so Nigeria Under- 20 goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel started this encounter.

After just eight minutes, Daniel was called into action by scrambling into corner a goal- bound shot by the Tunisians.

Razaq Adegbite replaced injured striker Sanusi Sani after 28 minutes as Rangers searched for the opener.

On the hour mark, Nigeria Under- 20 striker Alhaji Gero had a chance to put the home team in front but missed a great opportunity from a corner.

But just when the game seemed to be headed for a goalless draw, Uzochukwu produced the late winner, but he was booked for pulling off his jersey during his celebration.

Moments later, he was sent off for a second bookable offense.
