How Third Term Agenda Turned Obasanjo Against Me – Kalu

Published

on

Kalu-and-Obasanjo-480x300Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed how the third term ambition of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo earned him the Ota farmer’s fury just as he said he donated N100m towards his Presidential election in 1999.

He also said he gave another N100m to the Peoples Democratic Party for its registration prior to the 1999 elections.

Kalu said this on Saturday when he featured as ‘Guest of the Week’ on a Kaduna-based Liberty FM radio programme.

He said, “I made millions before joining politics. I was doing business between Maiduguri and the East. I carried fish from Maiduguri to the East and palm oil from the East to Maiduguri. So, I had money and invested so much in the PDP.

“If the party is a company, I would have been a major  shareholder. I and (Saminu) Turaki spent more on the party than any other Nigerian. How much did (President Goodluck) Jonathan have before he became the President? I was the first to give the party N100m to register. I was also the first to give Obasanjo N100m to campaign during the 1999 election.”

On the origin of the frosty relationship between him and Obasanjo, Kalu said:

“I fell apart with Obasanjo on the issue of third term. He wanted to be a life President. Nobody can tell me that Obasanjo was not interested in a third term. Huge money was involved in the project.  Two senators from my state came with the money and I asked them to return it.

“It was the then President of America, George Bush, who genuinely derailed the third term agenda. I told Bush about it and that is why Obasanjo hates me. Bush told him that it was not possible in a constitutional democracy. I try to avoid him (Obasanjo) at public functions.”

On the 2015 election, Kalu said, “People should stop imposing the President on Nigerians. Let the people chose their President.

“Igbo are going to vote for Igbo in 2015. Jonathan has the constitutional right to run but he is not an Igbo man. There are many qualified Igbo men. I am not saying I’m running for President now but there are possibilities that other Igbo men are thinking about that. Northerners should support us for the presidency in 2015 because we supported (Shehu) Shagari. We supported (Umaru) Yar’Adau, (Yakubu) Gowon and Tafawa Balewa,”  Kalu added.

He said his return to PDP was to give the party a second chance and to see if he could make positive changes in the party.

Kalu lampooned the Security Chiefs for ill-advising the President on the declaration of a state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe saying the declaration was nothing but a movement of troops from one place to another, adding that the President should have allowed the amnesty committee to work for at least three months before declaring emergency rule.

In his words, “I am for amnesty. The President should have allowed the amnesty committee at least three months. He shouldn’t have made any announcement. There is nothing like state of emergency but just a movement of troops. Jonathan is not that wicked to be playing politics with human life. Let’s remove politics or 2015 from this thing.”

    Uzor orji Kalu is a man that knows how to exercise his right freedom of speech in a democratic Nigeria. He’s a man who speaks as if there is no tomorrow and in the process confuses himself and his listeners and at the end makes mockery of himself always. It is not difficult to understand his confusion which many have attributed to intellectual autism and emotional misjudgment. It will be recalled that Kalu is a man who would open his mouth at the least tickle to his palm without knowing the amount of saliva cascading into his dress and gown from his unguarded mouth. Is there any man who is who in Nigeria that Kalu has not abused and insulted? Here was a boy who suddenly became a student when he was governor of his State. It is believed he did a crash program which benefitted him little or nothing. He may have done the crash program but the university did not go through him. Before he became governor he claims he was a trader but suddenly realised the poverty of his mental capacity and to a school. A University certificate does not determine what you become but rather what you make of it. Unfortunately Kalu has made nothing good of his certificate which I strongly recommend should be withdrawn by the Uni. As if this rascal called Kalu has not stepped on virtually all toes, he has arrogated to himself the role of the leader of Indigbo , a role played by Ohaneze. His lack of credibility and respect for elders and constituted authority makes him a lone ranger and a laughing stock in igbo land. Discretion is the better part of valour but Kalu is totally bereft of it. The irony of this character called Kalu is that he soon begins to go begging cap in hand with his mother by his side after carelessly bad mouthing those his fathers venerated. He’s a bootlicker. He speaks evil of people in public and privately seeks atonement. This is not a good trait of a good man. Kalu has a passion for ventilating his grievances in both national and foreign media houses. This is a man who claims leadership of Indigbo yet would hire the services of foreign media houses to castigate and tear down Nigeria’s. Image and hard earned reputation. If Indigbo has no better qualified person to represent them in their quest for the presidency in 2015 they had better go to sleep. It is however another way of making him relevant in Nigerian politics again. Is it not to his eternal shame that he came to PDP he was called names and rubbished? Something and everything about this guy are just not right. Kalu must be told in clear terms that he belongs to the dustbin of Nigerian politiics and history.

Otedola took to his Instagram page on Sunday to commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.

Sharing a photo of the Nigerian flag, he wrote;

“The horrors that have been unfolding in our country have left me filled with sadness. I deeply commiserate with those who have lost their loved ones and as a father, I share the sentiment of my three daughters who protested in Lagos and London. As a young boy of 16, I participated in the ‘Ali Must Go Protest’ of 1978, so I understand the determination of our youths who rightly want our country to be better. We must all do our part to make Nigeria great! I will continue to do my own quota in providing for those who are most in need of support in our country in these tough times .…F.Ote💲”

“Oke Wasn’t Killed By Stray Bullet, He Was Stabbed By Thugs” - Brother Claims
Oke

Oke

Information Nigeria recalls a graphics designer identified as Oke, was killed hours after tweeting “Nigeria will not kill me” on Wednesday.

It was reported that the young man had passed away after he was hit by a stray bullet.

The deceased’s younger brother, Daniel has come out to clear the air regarding the circumstances leading to his death.

Daniel revealed his brother was stabbed on the neck by thugs who infiltrated and ransacked their home.

In his words;

Good day, My name is Obi-Enadhuze Daniel younger brother of the now deceased Okechukwu Obi-Enadhuze @O_Okee . I, my brother and mother lived at makinde police barracks, mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos State.

Today at about 11 o’clock in the morning the police station at makinde was attacked by thugs who wanted to destroy the station, I my mom and brother were holed up in our house.

 The attack went on for hours before the thugs eventually breached the police and proceeded to set the station on fire, after accomplishing this they set their sights to the barracks and began the assault, they proceeded to destroy every car in the barracks, my mom’s 2 cars where destroyed and set on fire and then they infiltrated our house by breaking the door they then proceeded to ransack the house and carted away with everything we own.

 my brother on trying to get them to take everything but spare us was pushed to my mom’s room and stabbed on the neck, the attacker then proceeded to attack me but missed my neck but got my chin instead, after this my mom and I carried my brothers body to the entrance of the station soliciting for help from the thugs still ravaging the barracks, we were finally able to put him in a wheelbarrow and took him to a hospital where he was rejected because “he was already dead” unfazed we moved him to another hospital where he met the same treatment this was where he bled his last drops of blood and died, his body has now been moved to a morgue

we have lost every single thing we own, as our house was completely ransacked and set on fire the only thing left is my brothers phone and at about 8 o’clock this evening the barracks was still on fire but Okechukwu has paid with the ultimate price

I and my mother are homeless with nothing now but we’re safe for now, we thank everyone that has been able to reach out to us, and were able to share consoling words with us in these trying times, God bless you

While we were holed up in the house the three of us said these words together and we say it again ” THREE OF US ARE HERE, THREE OF US ARE TOGETHER, THREE OF US ARE SAFE”

Let it be known that my brother @O_Okee  was NOT killed by a police bullet but died a hero protecting my mother and I.

If you see this please retweet, let the world know how Okechukwu died. He was NOT killed by a police bullet but thugs in his home!”
