Governor Mimiko Floors Akeredolu, Oke At Election Tribunal

mimikoThe election petition tribunal sitting in Akure, Ondo State today threw out petitions filed against the declaration of Olusegun Mimiko as governor of Ondo State in two rulings delivered back-to-back in the state capital.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, and former president of the Nigeria Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu, had his petition defeated in the first ruling.

Justice Andovar Kaka’an ruled that the contention of the ACN that the election voters register had been “pumped up” was a pre-election matter, stating that the party and its candidate was aware of the issue before hand but did nothing about it.

On that ground, the tribunal therefore dismissed Mr. Akeredolu’s petition for lack of proof.  Mr. Akeredolu came third in the October 20 governorship election in the state.

Ruling on the case of the PDP candidate, Olusola Oke, the tribunal stated that his evidence before the tribunal did not tally with his pleadings in which he asked to be declared the winner of the election, and his petition was thus dismissed instantly.

  1. The so-called powerful people must learn how to respect the wish of the General Citizens, who believe there must be a way out of their poor conditions. Apart from Governor Fasola, who among the other ACN governors can we actually say is performing? And talking about the PDP, only the blind will keep quite at what is going on in and around them.
