Franck Lampard Renews His Chelsea Contract To Remain at Stamford Bridge Till 2014.

Chelsea has announced Franck Lampard has signed a one- year contract extension at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard’s future at the club had been a matter of discussion between fans and co- players who were desperate for the club legend to sign a new deal that should keep him at the club. During those periods of uncertainty and with Lampard’s previous contract at the West London club due to expire this summer, speculation linked the goal- king with a move away from Stamford Bridge, h the MLS as his most probable destination.

Fortunately for fans and players, the Wednesday’s victory over SL Benfica that saw Chelsea lift the Europa Cup has been succeeded by the signing of a new deal that will keep the midfielder at Chelsea until 2014.

The 34- year- old told Chelsea’s official website: “I’m absolutely delighted. Everybody knows I always maintained the dream was to stay at Chelsea. We’ve been talking for ages and even though it went on for quite a period it was always amicable.

“I want to thank Mr. Abramovich for everything he’s done in making the dream a reality. I love this club, the staff, the players and especially the supporters, who have treated me fantastically since I arrived.

“The thought of helping the club to do more success in the forthcoming years is all I ever wanted. I couldn’t be happier.”

The Blues signed Lampard for £11 million from West Ham 12 years ago, and he has since gone on to lift three Premier League trophies, four FA Cup winner’s medal, won the champions League last season and, just yesterday (Wednesday May 15), the Europa League.

Lampard’s 2012/13 season could as well become his best season at Chelsea as he recently became Chelsea’s all- time top goalscorer with 203 goals, breaking Bobby Tambling’s record in a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
