Famous Kenyan group “Camp Mulla” split

The famous hip pop band from Kenya, Camp Mulla’s separation rumors have finally been put to rest as record label, SubSahara Records admitted that some members would be leaving the band.

This comes after two months of constant rumors and speculation.

Lead singers Matthew Wakhungu aka Thee MC Africa and the only female member of the group, Lady Karun
have left the band for personal reasons.

Following the confirmation of the split on Thursday morning, the group says the band will still go on without the two departed singers.

According to Thee MC Africa, he left to ‘recreate himself’ and do his own kind of music which will be to entertain and unite Africa. The singer told DSTV that even his name – Thee MC Africa – might also be changed.
“I am working on a lot of new music with a fresh sound that I don’t think has been experienced in Kenya…. Basically, I am looking at less flashy, informative music…you know, like mind music which is pro-Africa…” Thee Mc Africa explained.

The record label made it clear that Miss Karun is parting ways with the group due to her admission into a university in U.S.A and so can’t continue being part of the band. However, the two remaining members, Shappaman and Kus Ma will continue to represent the Camp with help from rapper Collo and the fresh faced Tiri.

Camp Mulla gained a BET Awards nomination in 2012 for the Best International African Act category and has performed in several countries around the world and at Big Brother Africa eviction shows.
