Ex-Ondo Commissioner’s Mum Regains Freedom

IGPMadam Funke Olatubora, the 84- year-old mother of the former Commissioner for Education in Ondo State who was abducted last Sunday by some gunmen, has been freed by her captors.

It was gathered that the octogenarian was released by her captors in the wee hours of yesterday close to Owena River in Iyansan in Irele local Government Area of the state.

The Police spokesman, Mr. Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the development, said the kidnappers’ den was tracked with high technology gadgets; a move that forced the kidnappers to release their victim and abandon their hideout.

Ogodo however stressed that the kidnappers still had a case to answer despite the fact that they had released their victim.

This is even as he confirmed that no ransom was paid adding that the hoodlums released her when they sensed that the security agents were closing in on them.

It would be recalled that the abductors of Madam Olatubora demanded N50 million ransom from her family to secure her freedom.
