Beastly Acussations: Women Allegedly Lived With 80 Dead Animals In South Carolina Home

Deputies coming to evict a family from their Laurens, S.C., home say they discovered the property was littered with the bodies of more than 80 dead animals.

Rebecca Keith, 58 and her daughters, Amanda Keith, 33, and Sara Keith, 31, were arrested and charged on Thursday with “ill treatment of animals” and “failure to bury animals properly,” WSPA reported.

“My nightmares have nightmares about what we saw,” Jason English, the owner of the property, told the station.

“It was all sorts of animals,” Lt. Judy Stiles of the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office told WYFF. “Dogs, cats, birds and even baby deer.”

Amanda Keith told the station she kept animals in the outdoor freezer.

“Every time we moved, we thought we’d stay and we could bury them and certain ones we thought we could cremate. It’s like one thing led to another and we never could,” she said.

“Several dogs” and two horses in “poor condition” were confiscated and taken to a rescue facility, WSPA reports.

NBC News reports that, earlier this month, Sara Keith was sentenced to 20 days in jail for “ill treatment” and “overworking” of animals.
