The Lagos State Police Command today paraded seven suspected armed robbers said to have carried out the robbery attack on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, last month.

A gang of armed robbers attacked the airport on 13 March, 2013, shot two policemen dead and made away with millions of dollars stolen from the Bureau De Change in the airport.
The police recovered from the suspects five AK 47 rifles, four dynamites, 64 AK 47 Magazines, all fully loaded with 30 rounds totaling 1,920 live ammunitions, Toyota Siena Space Bus, with registration number BDG 918 AG, two locally made pistols, two masks and several charms.

The suspects paraded at the Lagos Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria are Ibikunle Olanrewaju John, Atoba Adeniyi, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Kazeem Aderibigbe, Saheed Adekunle, Christian Joshua and Saheed Okunola.
Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, who paraded the suspects, said the gang was the one who attacked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport last month and killed two policemen, saying that the robbers were not based in Lagos, as they were arrested in Osun and Oyo State.
“All the suspects confessed to the armed robbery at the MMIA and several other deadly robberies in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Kwara States, such as the Oro First Bank/Union Bank armed robbery in Kwara State in January 2013; First Bank /Wema Bank armed robbery in Ikirun in Osun State in December 2012 and the Bullion Van robbery attack at Odogbolu Junction, on Lagos-Ijebu Ode Expressway in January 2013.
“They also confess to the armed robbery attack at the MMIA in February 2012 where about N600 million was carted away. Furthermore, the armed robbers involved in the airport robbery of February 2012 where about N600 million was robbed and the last month MMIA robbery include Teslim Okunola now late, Kazeem Aderibigbe (the middle man that links the armed robbers with the informant), Ibrahim Abdullahi, Emmanuel Ehianeta, Christian Joshua, Saheed Adekunle, Fasasi Jamiu, Ifeanyi Douglas (still at large), Felix Sunday (still at large), among others,” he explained.
Manko said investigation was still ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects soonest.

    Thank good that they are cought.they brought shame to the face of nigerians by such arm robery opratioin at the international airport you can see whot this yorubar boys ,are doing.hard it being is anther trib they wiil wildly open their mouth to rain insult to that trib.but this shows that all tribs in nigeria are involve in crimenal crimes.that why you come to ibadan,oyo,ogbomosho,otte.gambari.people are killed or missing on a daily bases for money makeing.

#EndSARS protesters in Osun

The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola on Saturday, escaped an attack by thugs which happened while he was addressing #EndSARS protesters in Osogbo, the state capital.

Some of the vehicles in the Governor’s convoy were also destroyed by the thugs but the Governor himself was evacuated to safety by his security team.

As the convoy was leaving the protest venue, some of the youths continued to stone his vehicles.

While the protest was disrupted, Governor Oyetola assured the injured victims that the government would be responsible for their medical bills.

In a bid to quell the #EndSARS protest which is spreading like a raging inferno across the country, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State has set up a panel of inquiry and restitution for victims of SARS.

This was announced in a statewide broadcast on Thursday.

The panel will be a 7-man panel which will ensure that all those with verifiable cases of SARS brutality or fatality receive compensation.

The Panel will be chaired by retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, while members are Ebun Adegboruwa, SAN (representing the Civil Society), Taiwo Lakanu (a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police), Patience Udoh (representing the Civil Society); Segun Awosanya aka Segalink (Human Rights Activist).

Others are Olutoyin Odusanya (Director, Citizens Mediation Center), a rep/member of the youth-led protest, and a representative of the Human Rights Commission.

There will be a help desk for the complaints and petitions to the panel.

Abigail Makinde, the mother of the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is dead.

The Chief Press Secretary to Mr Makinde, Taiwo Adisa, however, told newsmen that the family will soon make an official statement on the death of the deceased.

He said: “Yes. The family will make an official statement.

“The family will soon make an official statement. In the next few minutes, the family will make an official statement, in few minutes.”

It was gathered that Mr Makinde lost his father, Olatunbosun Makinde, a few years ago.

It was learnt that Mrs Makinde died in the early hours of Thursday.

She died at the age of 81.
