PDP Is Intact And Devoid Of Rancour — Anenih

Tony-Anenih-418x215Governor Aliyu Wamakko yesterday debunked speculations that he and some other governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were planning to ditch it for the newly formed All Progressives Congress (APC).

“It was a media imagination. We cannot abandon what we helped to build. We helped to build PDP from the scratch, and we cannot imagine somebody like Aliyu leaving the party. That is the imagination of the press”, he said.

This is even as the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih said “the party is intact and devoid of any rancour.”

Speaking on Wednesday, shortly after a closed door meeting with Wamakko at the Sokoto Government House, Anenih said he and members of his entourage were in Sokoto as part of his ongoing tour of PDP-controlled states; to hold discussions with governors and other stakeholders of the party, with a view to repositioning it following the perceived internal crisis rocking the self-acclaimed ‘largest political party in Africa’.

In his response, Wamakko said “Chief Anenih is going round to listen to the concerns and worries and what we can do best to improve our party.”

While acknowledging that there were states where there was rancour among members of the party, Wamakko, however, advised the PDP to address certain injustices and be fair in its dealings with members.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honuorable Aminu Tambuwal; deputy governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari; state PDP chairman and other top members of the party in the state were present at the meeting.
