Irritated by a song stuck in your head? Scientists have found a cure…

oddScientists have found a way of taking our minds off those catchy tunes – known as earworms – by concentrating on anagrams.

Psychologist Dr Ira Hyman, who conducted the research, said: “Something we can do automatically like driving or walking means we are not using all of our cognitive resource, so there is plenty of space left for that internal jukebox to start playing.”

The study found that The Beatles’ hits She Loves You and I Wanna Hold Your Hand were among the catchiest songs, with Abba’s Waterloo and Changes by David Bowie close behind.
