Ideye Breaks Record In Ukraine

Nigeria international, Brown Ideye, has broken the Ukrainian Premier League record for goals scored by foreign players of Dynamo Kiev in a single season after netting a brace in the 25th round of matches against Zorya.

ideyeThe brace takes his tally to 16 goals after 24 league games, making him one of the sharpest attackers and second top scorer behind Shaktar Donestk’s leading scorer, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, on 22 goals.

Ideye had continued his newly-found scoring form after breaking his 2013 calendar year duck a fortnight ago, by helping his secondplaced team compound Zorya’s woes with a heavy 5-0 hammering.

Ideye’s goals in the 39th and 80th minute saw him move one clear of the previous record which was held by Guinea international, Ismael Bangoura, who achieved the feat by scoring 15 goals in the 2007 – 2008 campaign.

With five games left in the Ukrainian Premier League, the former Ocean Boys striker will be expected to break his own record.

Ideye had previously netted 12 goals to become the third best scorer among foreign players in the Dynamo Kiev’s history.
