Gov Aliyu Directs LG Councils To Conduct Census For Unemployed Youths In Niger State

aliyu-babangidaThe 25 Local Government Areas in Niger State have been directed to conduct a head count of unemployed youths in their areas within the next one month.

Giving this directive during a meeting with all political office holders in the state at the government house in Minna, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu lamented the rising number of unemployed youths in the state noting that the trend is a threat to the peace of the state because according to him an idle man is the devils workshop.

The governor explained that the census which should include age, educational qualification, and skills should be treated as urgent because the state government had finalised plans to engage 17,000 unemployed youths into the state’s civil service.

Mr Aliyu further informed the audience that a major part of the N2 billion accrued to the state from the SURE-P account will be used to tackle the increasing graduate employment in the state.
