A Christian cleric, the Bishop of Akure Diocese Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Reverend SImeon Borokini, has asked the members of the dreaded Boko Haram to first unmask themselves before getting for amnesty.
Borokini Borokini, who was last week installed as the new bishop of the diocese, noted that it would be difficult for the Federal Government to offer amnesty to a faceless group, decrying the level of insecurity brought about by the activities of the sect. He said the people should come out and show their faces, as this would aid any meaningful dialogue anybody may want to have with them.
According to him, it is regrettable that many lives had been lost to the activities of the group. Therefore, government should take a decisive step to stop the group from further killing of innocent souls. He also restated his call for a change in the priorities of leaders of the country, adding that this had affected the peace of the country.
His words: “The peace in the country has been affected by the priorities set by the leaders… The country’s priority has been wrongly set, because God has been neglected for crude oil, materialism and worldliness which has resulted in insecurity.”
