Former Oyo Commissioner Arrested By Anti-Fraud Police

The immediate past Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperative in Oyo State, Kazeem Adedeji, has been arrested by the Lagos Police Special Anti-Fraud Unit in Ibadan.

A source disclosed that the ex-commissioner was whisked away at a bank where his wife works at Agodi.

“As soon as he left his wife’s office, the woman called to inform me that a team of police officers were about to take her away from her desk.

“The former commissioner had to make a detour to know what the matter was. On getting to the scene, the police team told him they were there to arrest him and his wife,” the source said.

No one can say precisely why the former commissioner was arrested, but some of his associates said the arrest had political undertone.

Adedeji who was one of the aspirants who contested the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN’s ticket with Abiola Ajimobi for the 2011 governorship election in the state.

He was later appointed a commissioner, but was dropped in a minor cabinet reshuffle.

The police, the source said took them to Iyaganku police station in Ibadan before taking them to Lagos.
