A conflict between the people of Nko in Yakkur Local Government Area and their neighbours in Oyadama, Obubra local Government Area of Cross River State started afresh last Thursday after a similar one two years ago claimed lives and properties.

Sources say the fresh conflict erupted when an Nko man allegedly killed an Oyadama woman in the farm after a misunderstanding over a parcel of farm land.

“The man killed the woman, removed her intestines and head because the two of them were struggling over a piece of land,” a source said.

The killing reportedly sparked the rage of the Onyadama people who invaded Nko and killed six people in retaliation, leading to full scale communal conflict.

“The Calabar-Ikom highway was blocked for two days until soldiers were brought in to the area,” the source added.

Soldiers had since been deployed to the area to restore normalcy at strategic locations in the two communities particularly on sections of the Calabar- Ikom highway.

According to the State Security Adviser, Mr Rekpene Bassey, the primary concern of the government was to ensure peace and normalcy return to the area and “as I speak to you we are making efforts to ensure normalcy prevails in the area.”

Spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, John Umoh confirmed the incident, but however said only one life was lost. He added that efforts were on with the assistance of the traditional ruler of the area to arrest the culprits.

What is really wrong NPF Nigerian police force?Does it mean they have all gone blind? Each time a tragedy event like this happen, they give us wrong figure about the victims involved.Even when the press with their investigation give us accurate figure, the NPF will reduce it.what kinda inhuman behaviour is this, does it mean they dont value lives again or they rather us as mere chicken, even chickens have owners.Repent NPF and give your lives to Muhammed
