Stop Blaming Jonathan For Police Boss’ Murder – Presidency

The has criticised the comments by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) that the inability of the Federal Government to guarantee the security of the country is an indication of a failing state.

The Action Congress of Nigeria has come under fire from the Presidency over its comment that the Federal Government is unable to guarantee the security of citizens of the country; an indication of a failing state.

The Presidency made its stance known in a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, where the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe stated that although the Federal Government has an over-riding duty to ensure the safety of lives and properties, there is nowhere in the world where criminality does not exist.

Disagreeing with the stance by the ACN’s spokesperson that the killing of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police is an indication that Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state, Okupe stated that the killing of the Police boss cannot be taking as an index of a failed state because in advanced countries, such killings do occur but Presidents of such countries are not blamed neither are such countries denigrated by the opposition.

He, however, gave the assurance that the Federal Government is doing everything to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book.

It would be recalled that the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Chinwe Asadu, was murdered over the weekend by unknown gunmen in Enugu State.
