President of Equatorial Guinea, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has conferred Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan – who was on a two-day official visit to the country – with the award of Grand Collar of the Order of Independence; the highest award in Equatorial Guinea.

The Equatorial President decorated Jonathan with the medal at a State dinner organized in his honour at the Presidential Palace in Malabo in recognition of his contributions to peace, stability and development of the oil-rich country.

The honour which is normally reserved for visiting Heads of State, confers on Jonathan the rights and privileges of an Equatorial Guinean citizen.

  1. Na so! Jonathan that never even bothered to find out how his citizens over there are faring! Whether they are doing good or being well treated there….. So many Nigerians overthere really wanted to say one thing or the other to Mr President, but he never gave them audience just as the ones before him did. …..

  2. Birds of a feather flock together. Any country that honours corrupted leader like Jonathan is also corrupted. It is obvious that Jonathan is an agent and a promoter of corruption and impunity in governance. For instance, granting state pardon to DPS Alam., non-budget implementation, removal of fuel subsidy without positive impact to show for it, all edicted corrupters going scot-free, etc.
