MEND Threatens ‘Hell’ Over Okah’s Jail Sentence

henry-okahThe Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Tuesday, reacted to the 24-years sentence slammed on Henry Okah, by the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The group in a statement signed by one Comrade Azizi, rejected the judgement and described it as ‘the height of injustice’ to the region and its people.

“The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) rejects the sentence on our leader (Henry Okah) by Justice Neels Claaseen of the South Guateng High Court,” the statement read.

“Boko Haram has killed more innocent Nigerians than any other militant group in the country and yet their spokesperson was handed a three year sentence.”

Describing the sentence as “the height of injustice to our region and people”, MEND threatened to resist it by all means necessary, warning that while consultations were on-going with some stakeholders and elders of the region and would make their position known later, noted that “the gate of hell has just been let loss (sic)”.

Mr. Okah, a resident of South Africa, was arrested after the 2010 Independence Day bombing denied any involvement in the bombings, claiming the charges against him were politically motivated.

  1. Maybe it is time for the so-called Niger Deltans to wake up and apologize to Biafrans on their role in thwarting the dream that Biafra had for everyone including the people that choose to call themselves today Niger Delta.
If they did not learn a lesson from the brutal hanging of Saro Wiwa one of the enemies of Biafra people and Biafra nation, with many others, I wonder when they will see that their past is coming to hurt them now and he Igbos/Biafrans believes in ‘Ofo na Ogu’ the height of justice… but the so-called myopic Nigerians with likes of Awolowo, Jack the ripper Gowon, Enahoro, etc. will continue to live and die miserably like the innocent children, women and men they starved to death in the name of keeping nonsense called Nigeria ‘one’
