Fashola Gives Residents Of Illegal Shanty 3 Weeks To Vacate Area Or Face Demolition

Illegal squatters living at the Adelabu NEPA Garden settlement in Surulere have been given three weeks notice by the Lagos State government within which to vacate the area or face the looming demolition of the shanty.

Mr Tunji Bello, Commissioner for the Environment, who gave the ultimatum on Friday while inspecting on-going construction of drainage channels in Surulere area of the state, maintained government’s earlier stance that the shanties are built on drainage channels and government will no longer tolerate it any longer.

Meanwhile, in a related development, head of the residents of the affected area, has appealed to the government for more time to effect the relocation, noting that they have been living in the shanty for over 40 years.
