The police have launched a comprehensive search for Mrs Kareen Opara, who disappeared after allegedly stabbing her son’s wife, Esther Oluchi to death in Anguwa Baba area of Nasarawa State.

The suspect, who hailed from Umueze Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State, was living in the same neighbourhood with his son, Chinedu and the deceased wife. She was alleged to have been angry at her son’s wife for some time over a picture the deceased took at her daughter’s wedding last December.

All hell was said to have been let loose between the late Oluchi and her mother-in-law when she heard that her mother-in-law was caught at an herbalist’s home with one of her photographs.

Oluchi approached Kareen and pleaded with her to return the said picture to her but she was angered by her effrontery, and refused to return the picture. She went ahead to report to his son, asking him to warn his wife or risk the both of them being punished.

Chinedu called a peace meeting hoping to reconcile his mother with his wife, but the peace meeting turned awry, as the mother who was armed with a sharp machete, went for her daughter-in-law, who was carrying one of her two daughters on her back and stabbed her in the tummy. The machete pierced through her abdomen and she bled to death. According to sources, Oluchi she was five-month pregnant.

Chinedu who was earlier detained at the Nyanya Divisional Police Station had been released and asked to report there weekly until a conclusion is reached on the case.
