The no-love lost relationship between President Goodluck Jonathan and Senators played out Wednesday when the executive was lampooned for not implementing resolutions of the upper chamber.
“We have no reason to be here. If we will pass resolutions and the Executive will not implement them, then what are we doing here?” Smart Adeyemi, the Senator representing Kogi Central, asked rhetorically.
Mr. Adeyemi, a former Nigerian Union of Journalists president, berated the Executive for retaining the head of the Nigeria pension reform task force, Abdulrasheed Maina, contrary to a resolution of the senate which called for his arrest and prosecution following his indictment for corruption by lawmakers.
