This is contained in the statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, in Abuja on Monday. According to him, the party’s “sweeping victory at the assembly election is recorded in spite of the much talked about merger by opposition parties.”
He noted that the victory was a manifestation of the people’s desire to keep the PDP in control of their affairs. Metuh further explained that the party`s victory in the bye-election “is a clear indication that PDP is still the party to beat”.
He said the victory clearly indicated that the PDP was still popular among Nigerians, adding: “the sweeping victory in the two bye- elections is a clear indication that the people still have faith in the PDP.
“It shows that the PDP is still the most popular party among Nigerians,” Metuh said.
The PDP spokesman congratulated Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, the state PDP leadership and the entire people of the state, on the outcome of the elections. He also urged the people of the state to continue to give support for the PDP at all levels.
