President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday in Abuja asked Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to utilise reports from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).

The president made this known in a message he sent to NIMET during the agency’s pre-conference event, organised to mark its 2013 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP), slated for Feb. 15.

He said that the use of the information issued by the agency would help the MDAs and other relevant stakeholders to develop a National Framework for Climate Services and prompt the provision of reliable climate services for the people, especially the vulnerable.

Jonathan stated that it was a known fact that all over the world, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather conditions and their associated negative impacts on lives and property had increased. (NAN)
