_Jonathan_and_David_Mark_Senate_President_912548088Yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan forwarded the names of former Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof. Chinedu Nebo and the Action Congress of Nigeria’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2011 elections, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, to the Senate for confirmation as ministers.

Turaki is a ministerial nominee from Kebbi State and his choice comes eight months after the former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Haliru Mohammed, from same state, was removed as Minister of Defence while Prof. Nebo is a ministerial nominee from Enugu state. He is seen as replacement for former minister for power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, who resigned six months ago.

The former deputy governor of Osun State, Erelu Olusola Obada had been acting as Defence Minister since Dr Mohammed was relieved of his job while Zainab Kuchi held forte in the power ministry.

Earlier, the name of the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Adamu Aliero, was touted as possible candidate from Kebbi state to replace Bello Mohammed.

  1. Prof, Chinedu Nebo has a good integrity. But Nigerians always gets things wrong. This Nebo has been into education for yrs and has been doing quite remarkably well. Now they wants to push him into power where he might get in wrong. If I were the Prof, I will rejects the offer because this is a way of tempting him to get corrupt. Prof, Nebo might fight to get the power sector reformed. But the problem is dat he might be allowed to exercise his power and knowledge in full. Prof, kindly take my advise, this may lead to ur end. Reject the offer.
