Jonathan Decorates 55 Newly Promoted Generals

jonathan6Newly promoted two-star generals of the Nigerian Armed Forces, have been charged by President Goodluck Jonathan to exploit the opportunity of their promotion to stem terrorism and insecurity in the land.

The president who was represented by Minister of State for Defence, Mrs. Olusola Obada, made the comment while decorating the 55 newly promoted Majors General, Vice Admirals and Rear Admirals.

The new two-star generals comprised 22 majors-general, 19 rear admirals and 14 air vice marshals.

While stressing the place of security in driving the transformation agenda of his administration, Jonathan said the objective can’t be achieved in an atmosphere of insecurity.

“At this stage of your careers, you must devote your ideas and talents to the peace, security and socio-economic development of our country.

“I would like to remind you that our administration’s transformation agenda, which is aimed at revitalising all sectors of the economy for enhance growth and development, is on course.

“We are, however, concerned that without adequate security, its full impact would not be felt in all parts of the country,” he added.

The President also charged the Armed Forces to foster effective inter-agency cooperation among all the nation’s security agencies for better security coordination.
