Immigration Boss Calls For Support, Promises Adherence To Rule Of Law

Following the recruitment scandal that trailed the forced retirement of the former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS),  Mrs. Rose Uzoma and the attendant polarization of the Service as a result of the development, the Deputy Comptroller-General Rilwan Bala Musa who is acting in that capacity, has called for unity and support from the staff.This call is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer and Deputy Comptroller of NIS, Ekpedeme King. Musa in the statement, said such support is necessary to ensure that the Service conforms with the global best practices.

While promising to restructure the Service by ensuring that administrative decisions including promotion and postings are decentralised, he also vowed to address the HND and degree holders dichotomy.

He said: “I will restore the structures of Service by allowing my Deputies to function unhindered as provided by the Service manual and also collaborate with the Civil Defence, Fire Service, Immigration and Prison Services Board and other relevant government agencies to ensure prompt and  regular promotion of officers.

“I also promise to look into and resolve quickly, the discomfiture of concerned officers on the issue of HND and degree holders dichotomy in order to boost the morale of officers”.

“This was necessary as the we are determined to ensure that the Service conforms with the global best practices…the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government and call for cooperation of officers and men.”
