I am in good terms with my governors – Bamanga Tukur Talks about PDP Internal Crisis

National-Chairman-of-the-party-Dr.-Bamanga-TukurThe national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has assured that no action would be taken against any governor for whatever role he may have played in the crisis currently facing the party – thought to have been engineered by elected governors on the ticket of the party.

The governors were reported to have moved against the party boss for his lack of regard for them and especially because of the role he played in the dissolution of the executive council of the Adamawa State branch of the party loyal to Governor Murtala Nyako who had brought the issue before the PDP Governors Forum for its intervention.

Also, the governors were said to have broken the ranks of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, 10 of who openly rebelled against Tukur over his dissolution of the Adamawa executive council and his consequent appointment of a caretaker committee to run its affairs.

However, speaking to newsmen in his Abuja residence, Tukur said that he would never contemplate victimising any of the governors for their perceived role in the crisis but rather cement their positions in the party where he said they were field commanders. While responding to a question, Tukur said, “No. All my governors are my people. Let me tell you, we have no intention to victimise anybody. How can you even victimize your people? They are all commanders on the field. Every governor is my right commander in the field. Therefore, I want to strengthen him, I want to help him. No more, no less. It is just people making stories out of nothing, so that they can talk about it.

“I am in good terms with my governors, all of them; I like them to carry everybody along in their states and to follow my 12-point agenda.”
