Job Description

This is a full time position working and living in Africa. Compensation together with relocation package, international schooling for children etc. will be discussed with individuals and assessed against personal circumstances. Suitable applicants should expect a minimum two years in Africa with the potential for career development and new locations available thereafter, including Europe and the UK.

The Investment Manager will build internal and external business relationships to grow and develop a portfolio of investment advisory and discretionary clients. This role will build highly proactive, long-term relationships with clients and key business introducers to generate sustained revenue and recruit new clients. The Investment Manager will use their extensive experience and knowledge to help clients manage their investments, and wider banking needs, whilst showing appreciation for the lifestyle and financial priorities of our international clients.

This role requires working with colleagues worldwide to deliver banking and other services, thus ensuring a holistic service for the client. Working flexibly and travelling, the candidate will recognise the need to be available for high value clients whilst assisting with business and change management.
Establishing thorough client plans for all clients, reacting to and developing new opportunities from client contacts, ensuring appropriate provision of products and services both directly and via product specialists. Identify and provide solutions to a wide range of client needs including investments, banking, credit, FX and wealth structuring (trusts etc). Communicate with colleagues to make sure that yesterday’s best practice is tomorrow’s norm.

Research and maintain self up to date with all applicable regulatory requirements and compliance policies. Adhere to all such standards, both legal and regulatory to avoid exposing the business to undue risk.
Build and maintain a portfolio of clients.
Establishes thorough client plans, reacts to and develops new opportunities from client contacts, ensures appropriate provision of products and services both directly and via product specialists. Maintains regular proactive contact and rapid reaction to client approaches and retains existing and grows new revenue streams whilst ensuring to deliver against agreed business plans for the target country(s).

Identifies and provides solutions to a wide range of client needs including investments, banking, credit, foreign exchange and wealth structuring (trusts) etc, introducing specialists as appropriate to support.

Researches and maintains knowledge to ensure you are up to date with all applicable regulatory requirements and compliance policies and adheres to all such standards, both legal and regulatory to avoid exposing the business to undue risk.

Develops relationships with other parts of the business to ensure clients are managed in the most appropriate way enabling effective management of clients as required. In doing this, has joint responsibility with internal colleagues for the end to end client experience, ensuring client satisfaction. Also proactively engages with the business when required to support any business and change management.

Desired Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must have the UK statutory regulatory qualification for Financial Advisors at Diploma level as a minimum.

The right candidate will have significant experience in delivering high quality client portfolio management. Ideally they will have spent a high proportion of their career within financial services and will have a thorough understanding and appreciation of the need to operate to high risk and regulatory standards particularly in their target markets.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical competencies such as; profit orientation and business awareness with a client focus, relationship-orientated in a culturally diverse international market and the ability to exert commercial negotiation and influencing skills.
