FCTA Planning to Resettle 8000 Indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory

fcta_477085444Feelers from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have revealed that at least 8,000 indigenes housed in eight communities in the territory are to be resettled this year.

According to report by the Nigerian Tribune, three communities of 2,571 households would be resettled in the first quarter of the year in the Apo Resettlement Scheme while six communities of 5,172 households would be resettled by the second quarter in Galuwyi-Shere.

Of the 8,000 indigenes, 3,200 are to be resettled with houses while 4,800 will be given plots of land in Apo, Abuja Municipal Area Council and Galuwyi-Shere in Bwari Area Council. Already, the administration has carried out performance review of the resettlement scheme while engineering infrastructure works are ongoing in Phase 2 of Apo Resettlement Scheme and Galuwyi-Shere.

Minister of State, FCT, Jumoke Akinjide, who superintended the review gave the three communities to be resettled in the first quarter as Garki, Apo and Akpajenya while Utako, Maje, Jabi Yakubu, Jabi Samuel, Zhilu and Kpaadna communities are to be resettled in the second quarter
