2 Arrested As Police Raid Mercenaries Hideout In Nasarawa

The police in Nasarawa State have arrested two alleged mercenaries after storming their camp following a clash between Fulani herdsmen and the Agatu ethnic group in the state.

In a press statement by the state police public relations officer, ASP Michal Ada, he said the arrest was made in a forest near Sabon Kwara village in Jenkwe Development Area in an operation led by the DPO Agyaragu, SP Lasaka Habila after a tip-off.

The statement said the mercenaries, numbering about 200, took to their heels when they saw the policemen. Two men identified as Sule Sale and Likita Ja’afaru were arrested while one AK-47 rifle and 60 rounds of life ammunition was recovered.

Following the arrest, the state government has vowed to deal with any person or persons that may be involved in the killing and destruction of properties in the state under guise of tribe or religion.
