The negative effects of the activities of radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram has once again been brought to the fore by former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Retd). Abdulsalami said: “the activities of the Boko Haram sect are destroying the economy of the north”.

He lamented that the bombings in some parts of the north has destroyed the night business activities which used to be the big part of the region’s economy.

The retired Army General further reiterated that the carnage and senseless loss of lives is telling on the national economy, a situation he urged should not be allowed to continue in the New Year.

He however appealed to the sect and any other group who have grievances against the government to come out and negotiate.
