Manchester Derby Goes Bloody as City Loses 2-3 at Home

Having come back from two goals down to equalize in the winding minutes of the game, Manchester City were confident that they could savage at last a point from this home game – or perhaps the maximum points, if fortune smiled on them.

This is, perhaps, why it was totally unacceptable for City fans when in extra time Robin van Persie Curled in a free-kick to make it 3-2 to Manchester United. The home fans went on the rampage throwing objects onto the pitch, one of which caught Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand in the face, leaving him all bloody.

The game had not been any easy for the home side right from the beginning as they had lost two of their players – including Captain Vincent Kompany – to injury early enough in the game. However, they had shown enough character to stay in the game equalizing both of Wayne Rooney’s goals through Yaya Toure and assistant captain Zabaletta.

But Manchester United wasn’t done scoring yet, and it was van Persie’s extra-time goal that decided the game for the day.
