Jonathan Has Betrayed Nigerians’ Trust – CPC

The Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has said it will be difficult for Nigerians to trust President Goodluck Jonathan again.

The party stated this while reacting to the President’s Christmas message to Nigerians.

It wondered how Nigerians survived the outgoing year with what it called “deliberate pauperization policy of the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government.”

A statement by the CPC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, while going down memory lane, recalled how the year started with the 49 per cent increase in petrol pump price.

The President in his message said, “No one should doubt that we have the political will and determination to deliver on our promise of positive changes in the living conditions of our people in the shortest possible time.

“It is my hope and expectation that more of the efforts, actions and measures we are already undertaking in these areas will successfully come to fruition next year and make the results of the diligent project planning and execution being done under this administration more apparent to all Nigerians.”

But the CPC said, “It is doubtful if the President truly believes that Nigerians can trust him on this one, after many broken promises in the past one year and sheer unwillingness to assuage the cruelty unleashed on them by his administration’s lethargy and incompetence.

“Indeed, this President and his forebears in the ruling behemoth have collectively mismanaged – in the last 13 years – the hopes of Nigerians and brought the nation into impecunious status through unprecedented corruption and profligacy.

“With N2.67tr and N1.05tr said to have been spent on fuel subsidy in 2011 and 2012 respectively, this administration has unwittingly created a bleeding pipe – in which the scarce resources of state are siphoned into private pockets of cronies and acolytes of the administration.”

The party expressed disappointment that despite the increase in crude oil price, the Jonathan administration has not been able to translate same into prosperity for Nigeria and her citizens.

The statement added, “The administration of the fuel subsidy, under the administration, has become a phenomenon in legendary opacity and monstrous corrupt tendencies.”

On security, it said the administration had demonstrated lack of capacity to tackle the several insecurity challenges that had assailed the country in the outgoing year.

Half the time, Jonathan does not believe himself come to think of Nigerians. This is a man without modicum of integrity or honesty, without a vision or clue, without dexterity or purposeful leadership preparation. Destiny pushed the man there I’ll prepared for the enormous responsibility inherent in that office.
Sometimes I remotely want to question the man qualification: but being in the academics, certificates these days often are not worth the papers they scribble upon. I think his is one of those type.
