Gunmen Trail Blind Man to His House, Kill Him in the Presence of His Family in Maiduguri

As terrorists continue to go wild in the northern part of the country, gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect attacked the house of a blind resident of Maiduguri, Borno State, Mallam Peter Jella, and shot him dead before his wife and children in the Zajiri ward of the metropolis at 9.00 p.m. on Thursday.

Following the attack, his son was left with injuries sustained from stray bullets. According to an eyewitness, Abdu Ibrahim, the gunmen trailed the 45-year-old man to his house and demanded for him, before he was shot in the head and chest.

The witness also told newsmen that Jella had earlier been issued a threat letter to relocate from the area, as he was allegedly accused of providing information on the hideouts and activities of the sect in Maiduguri.

Mallam Jella had however discountenanced the threat letter. his killing came two days after the Joint Task Force (JTF) and the police foiled an attack on Ibrahim Taiwo Division Police Station in which a trader was also killed and over 40 tricycles and vehicles were destroyed.
