Federal Civil Service Commission Renovates 26 Toilets With N28m

The Senate, yesterday, described as ridiculous a total sum of N28 million spent this year by the Federal Civil Service Commission, FCSC, to renovate 26 toilets facilities.

The Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service chaired by Senator Aloysius Etok, PDP, Akwa Ibom North-West was also told that N18 million was expended to renovate the commission’s offices in 2012 and N25 million went to ITC equipment for the offices.

Disclosing this when she led others to defend the 2013 budget of the Commission, Chairman of FCSC, Deaconess Joan Olatoyosi, informed the commission that over N129 million was approved for the commission to conduct the 2012 interview and promotion of civil servants, adding that N70 million was released by the Federal Government to complement the N59 million earlier released by government to conduct the exercise, just as she explained that this led to the promotion of 1,229 workers out of the 4,034 civil servants interviewed.

The Commission’s Chairman however denied insinuation that staff of the Commission collect N500,000 from any applicant as kickback for employment and challenged anyone with proof to come forward.

Etok while reacting described the commission’s expenditure as a clear case of robbery. According to him, he wondered why the commission could go such extra mile in defrauding government in such manner, adding: “As a chairman of this committee, let me say here that we disagree with this and on this note, we request to meet with all those involved in this contract.

“We, the politicians are the ones that people call thieves; nobody calls you, the civil servants thieves.”

  1. Please convert such informational report with foreign currencies ($ or £ or €) to teach readers the atrocities that is being tolerated by nigerian government. Such contractors should be made to cough out the money as the law in nigeria does not permit bribery neither would monies spent for bribe be considered as part of the expenses. Such would wake up others not to pass such entrance to destroying nigeria’s integrity. Even golden toilets! Is not the type of toilets that is in nigerian embassy, Rome? People are destroying the future of nigeria and putting the blames on others! But it is the duty of the present government to create room for punishing offenders instead they are being praised. Where is the ex-speaker of nigerian house of reps with the story of all he stole? Chief Tony Anenih is heading for PDP’s BoT chairman after all he stole? OBJ is now advocating for muslim after he built church in Asso rock.OBJ asking for revolution in nigeria after all he stole?Revolution should start in his house! The goddese of Abacha would take him to where he belongs.

  2. It’s quite unfortunate that the tyrants that destroyed Nigeria are still at the hem of affair in this country. Why would some body in his right frame of mind spend 28million naira on renovation of toilet for crying out loud,Our so called leaders mistake privileges for an oppturnity.May God pay them back in their own coin.

  3. I thinks it is the right time to say the reality of the matter. Government of nigeria did not have any punishment for the offender. That is the reason why the evil continue to grow. Common sense should tell u that 28 million for 26 toilet is purely criminal. Which type of toilet and what and what do they buy for the renovation? can they give us a break down? EFCC should arrest them for the refund of the fund.
