Buhari’s 70th Birthday Celebration Postponed

The birthday celebration of General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) earlier scheduled for the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja has been postponed indefinitely.

This was contained in a statement yesterday by CPC spokesman, Engnr. Rotimi Fashakin. “Buhari has conveyed his sincere apology to the Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma and the Guest Speaker, Bishop Matthew Hazzan Kukah for the general inconveniences caused by this unfortunate cancellation,” the statement reads in part.

The postponement might not be unconnected with last Saturday’s helicopter crash that killed Kaduna state governor, Patrick Yakowa, former NSA General Owoeye Azazi (rtd) and four others. Recall also that the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, also had to postpone her thanksgiving and praise service in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic crash.
