Pakistani Cook Accused Of Filming Women’s Private Part On Metro

A cook has been accused of secretly filming the private parts of women travelling on the Dubai Metro.

Prosecutors accused the 28-year-old Pakistani cook (name withheld) of s*xually molesting an unidentified number of unknown women by taking footage of their private parts without their knowledge.
He was said to have breached the privacy and modesty of the women and taking the footage against their will.

“That was not true. I took video footage with some friends at random. I did not zoom in at women’s tops or bottoms, but I took footage of men and women haphazardly. I was taking videos of general views,” the accused argued while defending himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

In his testimony, an Omani policeman who was posted at Al Rashidiya Metro Station testified that a woman claimed to him that she spotted a Pakistani man taking photos of women’s private parts on the Metro.

“The woman claimed to me that she saw that person using his mobile phone in a suspicious way taking secret snapshots of women’s private parts.
Afterwards I suspected that he must have been the person. He immediately denied when I asked him whether he took photos of women passengers on the Metro. He agreed to allow me to check his mobile. When I checked the recordings, I found a video that showed the face of the same woman who complained against him. The footage exposed the defendant zooming [in] the lens at women’s breasts and posteriors and taking a video. When I confronted him with the footage, he alleged that he was taking general photos and did not zoom in at private parts,” the policeman claimed.

According to records, the defendant was arrested and taken in for questioning.

The accused was cited confessing during prosecution and police questioning that he had secretly recorded women.

A judgment is expected on November 25. [GN]
