Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor’s New Jet: Now, What Is So Bad In Men Of God Living Well?

Bombardier Challenger-601-1a Interior

A lot of comments have trailed the news of the new jet acquired by President, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and founder of Word of Life Bible Church, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. Judging from the comments I’ve read, a lot of people think it is such a bad idea for the man of God to acquire a jet.

The USA manufactured 10-seater Bombadier/ Challenger 601 aircraft was marked N431CB. The Challenger 601 is a heavy jet that sits up to 10 passengers and has a range of 3,900 nautical miles. It has a full enclosed lavatory and a flight attendant for additional comfort. The luxurious and spacious cabin of the Challenger 601 is perfect to conduct meetings or simply relax.

“l am not interested in pastor having or not having a private jet but how much is the church paying as tax to the government for them to have this kind of luxury? Simple.”

“Pastor, your mother challenged God for a male child in a better church than what you founded. It would have been better if you have been serving God in the baptist church.By now,you would have understood that you do not need this private jet that you have just acquired.Vanity upon vanity.”

“One would think maybe even jesus had some real pimped out donkey with gold and diamonds all over it. Utter foolishness and clear 419. When do pastors have so much money while there are people in the same bloody church who find it hard to afford 3 square meals a day.”

“There’s indeed money, stupendous MONEY IN THE WORD. Little wonder there’s no shortage of potential dealers (some call them Pastors) and aspiring dealerships or churches if you may. LORD HAVE MERCY!”

“Can one buy shares in these churches ?”

“I would’ve been very happy to read that Pastor Ayo is inviting men of God from UK, USA, and those in Nigeria and other African Countries for an interdenominational crusade in the city of Maidugri.
I strongly believe too that people all over would’ve been happy to hear that the leader of CAN in Nigeria in conjunction with Nigerian prays had stage a day national prayers in Jos to mark his 40th yrs on pulpit.
If the CAN president would’ve channeled the huge amount in acquiring private jet into evangelising, holding crusade in the entire northern region, holding talks with his counterpart in the north i sincerely believe there would’ve been a turned around in the life of terrorist and their sponsors as in the life of Pual,”

“God knows about d serious problem of mammon worship. Your advice, prayers and help is needed not your condemnation.”

These are the kind of comments readers of published stories about the new jet made, most as you can see condemns the new acquisition.

Forbes recently made a list of the wealthiest men of God in Nigeria, followed shortly by a report from a UK-based newspaper about alleged accusations by members of Bishop David Oyedepo’s UK church that they were being extorted.

Most of the arguments I’ve heard about the riches of the men of God are geared towards seeing them live modestly and give back to the society. As good as this is, people seem to go too far in challenging and condemning every step men of God take.

They are men of God, they are supposed to watch over God’s people, but they are also humans; men like you and me with families and children who would live after them. Tell me why they should live only for others. What will be the lot of their families?

They are men of God, but being a man of God is their profession as we all have ours. As we get promoted in our works and our wages gets increased, they also deserve better. They shop where we shop, live where we live, they are humans just like us and they deserve good lives.

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has been a pastor for 40 years. If you are in a profession for 40 years and still can’t live as well as you’d love to, it means you have failed. More so, reports say the jet was a gift from his church.

We should stop condemning every step they take. They are not superhuman because they are men of God; they are just like you and me, and they can make mistakes, even worse mistakes than you make. There are even mere men that are as close to God as the people tagged ‘men of God’.

Yes, they should help the poor, give as much as possible to their societies, but it doesn’t mean they should not live well.

I’m not disputing that there are some pastors that are in the ministry for business, but who are we to judge? They don’t answer to us, they answer to God. Even the churches with the weirdest of doctrines have members; part of us.

Now, let’s move on to better things and stop condemning, or for some people, feeling bad about the success of men of God.

  1. Except, they are building their castle on earth, that will soon come to an end, and compare Jesus Christ saying that it will be easier for a camel head to pass thru a needle than a reach man to enter heaven. To him its impossible then he added except its the will of His father who is in heaven! Its certain they the MOG don’t believe this as they have bequetted these riches to their yet unborn generations. Do as I preach not as I practice!

  2. We are being blinded by religious teachings: “but who are we to judge?” You don”t judge yourself or your government leaders? But when it comes to the so called religion we become so biased.

Categorically the act of the so called men of God to live in abundance while the church members that contribute the monies wallow in poverty is not only inhumane but displays the littleness of the so called men of God.

  3. The pope, who is the head of the church, has no bicycle of his own;
the food he eats is provided by d church,
the bible said” you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”
realize it today and woaship God in truth, stop falling mugu to bussiness men and women in pastors clothing!!!

  4. Men of GOD has a right to own. Any thing they like , alter all GOD bless abraham and solomon wet all things, and. Churchs are not made to pay tax because there ways of income is defrience from this political world, that is why GoD ordain Tithe in the house hold oF GOD , and it is a command befor GOD

  5. Yes, pastors are meant to live pretty well and good but christainity simply means following christ. Christ lived a life of simplicity. He didn’t even rode on a horse once in the bible, he trecked to everywhere on land preaching to people willing to hear him. Thats what we want from our pastors. There is a renowed pastor in nigeria who God gave the largest church. He never had a jet yet he moves from one place to another spreading the word. He came to my campus once and I see how simple he was. I even heard he gives out gifts immediately he receives them.
Pls, am not critisizing any pastor. It is very good thing seeing what God has done in their lifes, but not in this manner when many are rushing to hell. There are many things money should be used for, not things like this. We have many villages crying to be help from the calling hands of the devil, let dis money be used for it. That is the reason God placed them in the positions.
From my point of view, there are gifts pastors shouldn’t receive from people or things they should buy for themselves. My prayer is that all dis will not make them yield to the devil, and that prayer will only work if they make adjustments because it is written that ‘it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to inherit the kingdom of God.’

    • have you ever refused any gift before? especially a birthday gift? the truth is you cannot reap were you don’t sow if he has sown 40yrs of his life to a church a second hand jet is d least of things to say thank you with. please christ was made poor not for you and i in christ to remain poor,

  6. i have heard so many people talk about the poor in the society and how impoverished a nation we are for some pastors to own jets, but the question that barely comes to mind is if this money used for buying jets is given to the poor will it end poverty in this country? if you had made comments on this page via a blackberry, ipad, laptop and you feel it’s ok for you to own such and not a Nokia 3310 you are an hypocrite sell that your gadget and give to the poor. if you are above 18 and have never won a soul for christ in your entire life and you stand to criticise the wealth for pastors and that of a man that has given 40yrs of his life guyz you are in trouble cause soul winning is the essence of life, come to think of it what is in a private jet? i was taught that an airplane is used for transportation and not for merriment.

  8. Yes they should live good but not to the extreme, their reward should be in heaven not on earth . Their are people who can not even afford one square meal n they are whorshiping in that church, why can’t they use the money to help the poor n needy, what of the widows, motherless children why not build companies n employ jobless people. Hmmmmmmmmmm! Vanity upon vanity, the bible says that the rich will hardly make it to heaven, for what will it profit a man to gain the world n loses his soul. Show good example like our lord Jesus Christ did

  9. Matthew 8: 20 “Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Acts 2 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need.[a] 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them[b] those who were being saved.
