JTF Recover Arms In Yobe

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Yobe state on Monday said it had recovered assorted arms in Damaturu, the state capital.

JTF spokesman, Lt. Eli Lazarus stated that “the JTF, acting on a tip-off, raided a suspected terrorist arms store at Pompomari area of Damaturu on Sunday.”

The statement explained that, “five Mark IV rifles; one `Fabrique Nationale’ and one pump-action rifle, one riot gun shoot range; four riot guns; one tear gas canister as well as bow and arrows were recovered during the raid which was devoid of exchange of fire.”

The JTF reiterated its commitment to providing security and protecting lives and property of all citizens.

The arms recovery in Damaturu is regarded as a step further in a state which along with its neighbouring Borno state has been one of the active centres for Boko haram insurgency.
