The activities of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), it is believed, has led to the destruction of property worth at least N187.8m in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, about two weeks ago, a committee report revealed.
The committee which submitted the report had been set up by the Borno State Government to assess the damages, allegedly caused by operatives of the Joint Military Task Force, (JTF ) in Gwnage ward.
Therefore, presenting the report on Monday to Governor Kashim Shettima, chairman of the committee, Baba Bashir Garbai said the breakdown of the report indicated that 142 houses/ shops, 21 vehicles and 14 tricyles were destroyed in the incident. Garbai said the committee has carried out its assignment with fairness and justice
However, receiving the report, the governor commended members of the committee for a well done job, promising to commence payment of compensation to the victims to minimize their sufferings. According to the governor, “Government is delighted with your work, I assure that before the end of the week, we will purchase vehicles and distribute to those that lost their own in the incident.”
Why are we so concerned about the JTF and avoid the menace of the dreaded Bokko Haram? Let the BK stop all their nefarious activities and embrace peace and re frame from the killings of innocent people in the name of Jihad for Allah. Islam is a religion of peace. You can not fight for Allah, let him fight for himself. You cannot enforce your ideology everybody- as people are free morals.
